Bryant, originally from Spring Hope, NC, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently employed with Southern Bank.

Bryant has demonstrated his dedication to the Nash County community in several areas, including serving as past chairman, Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce; past president, Rocky Mount Luncheon Lion's Club; Board of Trustees, Graduate School of Banking at LSU, and he currently serves as the vice president of finance, for the Tar River Region United Way.
