Net Proceeds To Benefit New Pediatric Emergency Department
Nash Health Care Foundation’s third annual Golf Classic on May 18 at Benvenue Country Club raised $126,337 in gross proceeds topping the $125,000 goal.
Under the leadership of Cam Blalock, Sponsorship Committee Chairman, $102,150 of the $125,337 was secured in sponsorships, ranging from $1,250 to $10,000, from Nash Health Care vendors and local and area businesses. Sponsorship Committee members were Cam Blalock, David Broyles, John Congelli, Brenning Daughtridge Don Mucci, Lisa Holland, Rick Holmes, Greg Hutchins, Charlene Lewis, Bob Skelton and Roger Taylor.
For the third consecutive year, Roger G. Taylor & Associates was the Golf Classic’s Presenting Sponsor ($10,000). Mr. Taylor is the General Chairman of the Foundation’s Capital Campaign to raise $2.5 million in support of the new $4.5 million Pediatric Emergency Department in the new and larger Emergency Care Center at Nash General Hospital. Groundbreaking for the new facilities was held on March 22, 2012. Construction completion is scheduled for early 2014.
The Golf Classic’s net proceeds of approximately $75,000 will benefit the new Pediatric Emergency Department. The two previous Classics netted $72,608 in 2011 and $52,106 in 2010 for the Peds ER project. In total, the Foundation’s three golf events have netted over $200,000 from the $355,9943 in gross revenue.
John Derbyshire, MD, Vice Chairman of Nash Health Care Foundation’s Board of Directors, was the General Chairman of the Golf Classic with Roger Taylor and Ziggy Zalzneck, both Board Directors of Nash Health Care Foundation, serving as the Co-Vice Chairmen of the event. The Golf Classic’s Steering Committee members were: Cam Blalock, David Broyles, Stephanie Collins, John Congelli, Brenning Daughtridge, Lisa Holland, Rick Holmes, Greg Hutchins, Anne Kinnaird, Charlene Lewis, Allison Manning-Williams, Don Mucci, Nancy Nelson, Rich Parker, Bob Skelton, Jay Streater and Judy Woelke.
Norma Turnage, Foundation Board Chairman, hosted the Sponsors Reception in her home on Thursday, May 17. Nearly 100 guests attended the party.
On May 18, golfers, sponsors and volunteers enjoyed breakfast on the patio at Benvenue Country Club. Past members of the Medical Auxiliary Committee of Physicians’ Wives hosted a luncheon on the patio from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring music by DJ Tim Colbert.
Following golf play, Charles Archie, David Hinkle, John McKinney and Rob Tharrington participated in the $50,000 JetBlue Shoot-Out Contest on hole #18. Richard Davenport, Van Lilley, Preston Lilley and Steve Moore were the champions of the Bryant Aldridge Division. Kevin O’Connor, James Watson, Nick Woodcock and Chip Adams were the champions of the Claude Mayo Division.
Evening guests enjoyed a picnic supper and open bar in the ballroom, followed by a silent auction, a live auction hosted by auctioneer Wooten Lamm, an awards ceremony and the check presentation from Golf Classic General Chairman John S. Derbyshire to Larry H. Chewning, III, President and CEO of Nash Health Care.
