Laura Haynes Named PeriAnesthesia Nurse of the Year
10/17/2011
Laura Haynes of Rocky Mount was selected as the North Carolina PeriAnesthesia Nurse of the Year by the NC Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses. The award was presented at a statewide conference in Hickory.
“Laura exemplifies excellence in all nursing-related roles,” stated Marlene Everette, RN, the perianesthesia manager who nominated Haynes for the award. “She also displays a compassion to her patients, as is evident through written comments from patients we receive in surveys. I feel fortunate to work with such a skilled and knowledgeable clinical expert.”
Haynes earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has worked at Nash General Hospital since 1989. PeriAnesthesia nurses specialize in providing care when patients are in the “recovery room” and awaking from anesthesia.
The NC Association of PeriAnesthesia nurses is a statewide organization that promotes high standards and provides local guidance for PeriAnesthesia nurses. The organization also offers continuing education opportunities through diversified programs.
