Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center Earns CARF Accreditation
07/19/2009
The Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center recently passed a rigorous peer review process to receive three-year CARF accreditation, making it one of 19 CARF-accredited facilities in North Carolina. CARF –the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-- is an independent, nonprofit organization that represents the highest level of rehabilitation accreditation that can be awarded.
“CARF recognition is the result of extensive site surveys by rehabilitation professionals, and our community should be proud of the fact that Nash Health Care meets international standards for excellence, quality, and successful patient outcomes,” said Sandra Todd- Atkinson, senior vice president of specialty hospitals. “This accreditation is the result of teamwork, dedicated and compassionate patient care, and access to state-of-the-art treatment.”
CARF’s mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a comprehensive accreditation process. Founded, in 1966, the organization’s extensive peer review process and surveys accredit programs that demonstrate not only high quality, but successful treatment.
“All of our patients are on a journey; maybe they have been injured in an accident, maybe they have had a stroke, maybe they have had a knee or hip replacement. This journey along the pathway to independence is one that we all take together, but at the same time, we tailor each treatment plan to the individual patient,” said Brian Agan, director of rehabilitation services at the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center.
Rehabilitation services at Nash Health Care incorporates a wide range of disciplines, including occupational therapy, and rehabilitation services for stroke, brain trauma, joint replacement, spinal injury and more. Nash Health care opened the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center in November 1999. The 23-bed facility, featuring all-private rooms, has a therapeutic walking garden, gymnasium and therapeutic swimming pool. The Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center draws patients from a 19-county region.
Nash Health Care is a county-owned, not-for-profit health care system comprised of four distinct hospitals on a single campus: Nash General Hospital, Nash Day Hospital, the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center, and Coastal Plain Hospital.
