Welcome New Board Members

03/12/2008

The Nash Health Care Board of Commissioners recently welcomed new board members Jerry Daniel and Dr. Michael Crawford.

The Nash Health Care Board of Commissioners is a 14-member volunteer board appointed by the Nash County Board of Commissioners. Each board member is appointed for one 3-year term. The Nash Health Care Board of Commissioners meets the first Thursday of each month.

Jerry Daniel, originally from Middlesex, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. He worked in Washington, DC as the student union director for Montgomery College and returned to North Carolina to work as Director of Corporations for the North Carolina Secretary of State's office. He currently serves as the vice-president of government relations for CT Corporation.

Daniel said serving on the board is a great opportunity to learn more about health care-one of the most important issues facing Americans.

"This is a great opportunity to give back to the community," he said. "I've been so impressed by what I've seen at Nash Health Care. The hospital staff has a total dedication to quality."

Daniel and his wife, Diana, have two children and five grandchildren.

As president-elect of the medical staff, Dr. Michael Crawford serves on the board as an ex-officio member. Dr. Crawford, an ear, nose, and throat surgeon with Carolina Otolaryngology Consultants in Rocky Mount, completed his otolaryngology residency at West Virginia University Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

"As a member of the Nash Health Care Medical Staff for twenty years, I have seen Nash grow tremendously while continuing its mission of excellent ‘close to home' service to the patients in our community," Crawford said. "I have learned that the amount of hard work and detail throughout the organization that goes into providing such a high level of care is astounding. I am excited to be part of the Board to help guide Nash Health Care to meet the challenges that lie ahead."

Crawford and his wife, Mary Beth, live in Rocky Mount, and have two children.
