Last year, Nash Health Care Systems was named the Top Company Team for the American Heart Walk fund-raising event, netting around $22,000… and this year, NHCS organizers are hoping for a sweet repeat.

The American Heart Walk, which raises money for heart disease research and education, will be held on Nov. 4, where 13 teams from Nash Health Care Systems will join a host of others in downtown Rocky Mount to march forward for heart health.

The NHCS Heart Walk teams have already held a mum sale to raise money, and other fund-raising opportunities are just around the corner.

From Oct. 9 to 13, a silent auction will be held in the library, where participants can place a bid on baskets featuring a wide range of themed items tastefully decorated.

In addition, a yard sale will be held Oct. 13 and 14 on the lower level of the employee parking deck. Employees can donate tax-deductible items to the event. The yard sale will be open for employees from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the 13th, and open to the general public on Saturday the 14th from 6 to 10 a.m.

Emily Ellis, one of the team leaders, wanted to thank everyone for all their hard work and dedication that aids an important cause.

“We are just so happy with the support we’ve received,” she said.
