Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation (CROP), of HealthFirst Wellness Center, is located in the Community Medical Plaza and is a state -regulated outpatient program serving individuals with pulmonary or cardiac-related complications that interfere with ability to function who can benefit from a prescribed risk factor reduction program of exercise and education. The program is designed to prevent health risks and to optimize function, performance, productivity and quality of life. The program helps participants identify and accept responsibility for the management of their own health and supports their efforts to gain and maintain their health through a coordinated continuum of care that addresses:
- health promotion
- nutrition
- rehabilitation
- disease/injury prevention and management
- prevention of secondary conditions
- lifestyle management
- wellness/fitness
- quality of life
Service hours are from 8:30 to 3:30 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Our program director has extensive training and experience to serve our CROP participants, and utilizes information from participants’ physicians to tailor an approach to exercise that is appropriate and beneficial.
Participants in the CROP program may have diagnoses that include but are not limited to:
- heart attack
- coronary bypass-surgery
- angina pectoris
- PTCA with or without stent
- aortic valve replacement or repair
- heart/lung transplant
- emphysema
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- hypertension
- diabetes
- cardiac transplant
- asthma
The cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program consists of monitored cardiac and pulmonary classes plus our maintenance classes called Healthy Horizons.
